Industrial brushes for melons and watermelons

Melons and watermelons are delicate fruits that must be protected so that they are not damaged during washing, calibrated drying, etc.

We have specific cylindrical brushes for the larger weight and size of this fruit. Brushing the top of the melon and watermelon is done with a higher fibre output from the brush than those below.

Melon: washed with 0.25 mm polyamide or polyester. It is important to indicate whether phytosanitary products will be used in order to choose the correct fibre. Synthetic fibres for drying, as well as latex washers. For polishing by dry brushing, we use 100% horsehair or a mixture.

Watermelon: usually dry brushed with 100% horsehair. These are very large diameters and the natural horsehair fibre can become tangled and matted. To avoid this, we can replace the horsehair with PET (a variant of polyethylene) which does not tangle.

Another type of brush for melons and watermelons is the rectangular brush.

The rectangular brush is used for the side walls in the washing tunnel to prevent heavy blows that could damage the fruit.

They can be used for washing, brushing or polishing, adapting the type of fibre.

The machines for melons and watermelons have slats/plates with a width of 100, 120 and/or 150 mm to prevent damage to the sides. The length can be chosen, with a maximum of 2,500 mm. These slat-type brushes have natural horsehair or PET (a type of polyethylene) bristles.

The base of these boards can be plastic or wood to reduce costs and when they are going to be used for dry work.
